Oyster and Whisky Pairings
Pairing whisky with oysters is a match made in heaven, and here are some Talisker cocktails for National Oyster Day on August 5th.
Talisker is made on the Isle of Skye in Scotland and as a result has lots of briny notes in its flavour profile. This makes it the perfect whisky for pairing with oysters, either neat or in a cocktail. Talisker has created several cocktails featuring their Talisker 10-Year-Old for National Oyster Day.
Global whisky ambassador for Talisker, Ewan Gunn, recommends adding a splash of Talisker to a raw oyster, just as you would lemon or mignonette, to experience a unique blend of the smoky, sweet and fresh flavors.
Oyster and Whisky Pairings
Talisker has come up with three cocktails, specifically for enjoying with oysters. The Rhapsody in Skye is perfect for Scotch lovers looking to enjoy a penicillin-style cocktail. It offers smokiness, a beautiful pepper spice and sweet coastal brine notes that go amazingly well with the oysters – making this duo the ultimate way to celebrate National Oyster Day. Or try a Talisker 57 for a fresh-tasting bubbly sip or a batch of Night Gathers to help you celebrate with a small group of friends and a fresh plate of oysters.
Rhapsody in Skye

To be enjoyed with fresh East Coast oysters
Ingredients:
1 1/2 oz Talisker 10 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky
3/4 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
3/4 oz Ginger Syrup*
1 dash Cardamom Bitters
Orange Twist for Garnish
Rose Water for Garnish
Preparation:
Combine Talisker 10 Year Old, fresh lemon juice, ginger syrup, and cardamom bitters into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well.
Strain contents into a chilled Nick & Nora glass and garnish with an orange twist and a few drops of rose water.
*Ginger Syrup:
1 1/2 cup room temperature Ginger Juice
1 cup Sugar
Stir ginger juice and sugar in a saucepan on high heat until dissolved. Pour into clean glass container and allow to cool. Will keep 4-6 weeks.
Talisker 57

Ingredients:
1 1/4 oz Talisker 10 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky
3/4 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
3/4 oz Simple syrup
Champagne for top
Preparation:
Combine Talisker 10 Year Old, fresh lemon juice, and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well.
Strain contents into a Flute glass.
Fill to top with champagne and garnish with a twist.
Night Gathers

(serves 4)
Ingredients:
4 oz Talisker 10 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky
1 oz Italian Apéritif
4 oz Lemonade
4 oz Coconut Water
1/2 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
1/2 oz Cranberry Juice
Preparation:
Combine Talisker 10 Year Old, Italian Apéritif, lemonade, coconut water, fresh lemon juice, and cranberry juice into a punch bowl with fresh ice.
Garnish with orange wheels, lemon wheels, and edible flowers.
